Art Scholarships

Scholarships are available every year to students enrolled in music and drama courses. The student will first need to go to Scholarship Universe and follow the application prompts.

Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for scholarships:
  • You must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED.
  • You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be considered (we will use your high school GPA if you are a new student) .
  • You must be enrolled in at least 6 hours at LSC-CyFair and/or the LSC-Cypress Center.
  • You must meet Satisfactory Academic Policy
    1. You must declare an academic program other than “undecided” and must be taking courses that apply to that degree/certificate (it does not need to be in art).
    2. You must successfully complete at least 67% of your cumulative attempted hours. Grades of W, F, I, N, NP, and NR are not considered to be adequate grades for completion.
    3. You may not receive financial assistance beyond 150% of degree requirements (90 hours for an Associate's Degree)

  • You must demonstrate a commitment to the profession by participating in campus activities related to the profession, such as art shows.

Scholarships Available

All scholarships are merit based, not need based.

The following named scholarships are available for artists:

  1. Susan J. Caldwell Endowments for the Arts: five scholarships for $1,000 (split evenly between fall and spring semester); Awarded to one drama student, one instrumental music student, one vocal music student, one art student, and one best additional applicant
    Criteria: Must attend LSC-CyFair; minimum 2.0 GPA; must be enrolled in two courses in the Arts, Music, Drama or a combination; funds to be used for tuition, fees, books, and class supplies
    Recipients: Can be a performer, drama technician, or artist. Those awarded these scholarships must send letters to Mrs. Caldwell detailing their background and accomplishments.

  2. LSC-CyFair Faculty Senate Endowment for Robert McGehee: one scholarship for $1,000 (one time award).
    Criteria: Must attend LSC-CyFair; academic discipline is Art.
    Recipients: Can be any studio discipline. Requested that the recipient send letter to LSC-CyFair Faculty Senate with background and accomplishments.

LSC-CyFair also provides additional scholarship funding of varying amounts to students, based on fund availability and demonstrated merit.

Submission Requirements

Portfolio

Applicants will be required to provide a digital portfolio of 5-7 works of art and an artist statement. These can be emailed or on artist website, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
