Bio

Art Murillo was elected as Trustee District 4 of the Lone Star College System Board of Trustees on Nov. 4, 2014. Murillo and his wife, Margie have two children, Johnny and Chad. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin in 1988, Murillo pursued his graduate studies at Texas State University in San Marcos where he obtained a Masters in Public Administration (MPA).  He moved to Houston in 1992 to work for former Texas State Rep. Kevin Bailey as Chief of Staff, and in 1995 went to work for the University of Houston-Downtown as the Executive Director of the Houston Resource Center. In 2001, Murillo was hired by Houston METRO as a community outreach and government affairs liaison. He now serves as senior representative for the METRO Stakeholder Affairs Division which manages all public information and education programs for the METRORail Expansion Project.   

Murillo was elected to the Aldine Independent School District Board of Trustees in 2003. He has served on the boards of the East Aldine Improvement District, the Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce and the Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA.  He currently serves on the board of the Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ), and he is a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  Murillo is strongly committed to public service, and is very passionate about expanding opportunities for residents and business owners in the Aldine community.
