Electrocardiography technicians operate equipment that records and measures heart activity. These measurements are used to assist cardiologists and other physicians in diagnosing and treating problems with a patient's heart and blood vessels.

This program includes ECG Technician national certification through the American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals (ACA).

Electrocardiography Monitoring Technician

Electrocardiography monitoring technicians read heart rhythm patterns to detect abnormal heart rhythm variations. Technicians also observe heart rhythms on a cardiac monitor screens and listen for alarms in notification of abnormal heart rhythms.

Other responsibilities include reviewing patient records for normal heart rhythms and using instruments to measure length and height of heart patterns. Students with this certification can continue their education to become cardiovascular or cardiopulmonary technicians.

Visual Communication AAS: Web Design Track

This degree has five areas of specialization: graphic design, multimedia, video and post-production, web design, or 3D animation. Both the graphic design and multimedia degree programs are recognized by the Texas Skill Standards Board (TSSB) as having curriculum that aligns with the national industry defined and industry-recognized skills standards.

Inspection Technology AAS Degree

The Inspection Technology AAS Degree is designed to prepare the individual in a career as a welding inspector in the fabrication, construction and manufacturing industries.

Welding Technology AAS Degree

The Welding Technology AAS Degree is designed to prepare the individual for a career as a welding technician in the fabrication, construction and manufacturing industries.

Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate

Gas Metal Arc Welding is the most common industrial welding process, preferred for its versatility, speed and the relative ease of adapting the process to robotic automation.

Total of 16 credit hours.

Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certificate (SMAW)

Shielded Metal Arc Welding is used extensively in the construction of steel structures and in industrial fabrication. The process is used primarily to weld iron and steels, including stainless steel, but aluminium, nickel and copper alloys can also be welded with this method.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Certificate (GTAW)

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding is most commonly used to weld thin sections of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys. The process grants the operator greater control over the weld than competing processes such as shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding, allowing for stronger, higher quality welds.

Layout & Fabrication Welding Certificate

The Layout & Fabrication Welding Certificate covers fundamental courses in layout and fabrication related to the welding industry. Major emphasis on structural shapes and use in construction.

Students must complete the SMAW or GMAW certificate prior to enrolling in this award.

Pipe Welding Certificate

The Pipe Welding Certificate give students an introduction to welding of pipe using the shielded metal arc welding process, including electrode selection, equipment setup, and safe shop practices. Emphasis on weld positions 1G and 2G using various electrodes.

Students must complete the SMAW, GMAW or GTAW certificate prior to enrolling in this award.

Inspection Technology Certificate

The Inspection Technology Certificate is designed to prepare the individual in a career as a welding inspector in the fabrication, construction and manufacturing industries.

Welding & Inspection: Non-Credit Fast Track

Welding Master

A Master Welder requires skills such as industrial safety, oxyfuel, plasma cutting, shielded metal arc welding and gas tungsten.

Shielded Metal Welder (SMAW)

Shielded metal arc welders work primarily with heavy plate steel and pipe welding in the construction industry, including the building construction and pipeline industries.

Total of 80 contact hours.

Gas Metal Welder (GMAW)

Metal inert gas welding/gas metal arc welding is used in both the automotive repair industry, as well as in the construction of steel sided buildings for thin steel welding.

Gas Tungsten Metal Welder (GTAW)

Tungsten gas welding includes the use of gases like helium to weld non-ferrous metal like aluminum and titanium, as well as other exotic metals.
