To make use of the online payment plan, you must:

• Be enrolled in credit academic classes
• Have a U.S. checking account, savings account, debit card or valid credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover)
• Have an e-mail address and phone number
• Have access to Lone Star College myLoneStar from any college webpage
• Know your student ID number (available in myLoneStar)
• Pay a $15 Payment Plan Enrollment Fee plus 40% of total tuition and fees at time of enrollment. 

Installments will be drawn from the same account used to pay the initial deposit. If you do not want installments drawn from this account, you must change your saved payment method through Nelnet. Any changes to payment methods should be made 48 hours prior to the installment due date. Please ensure funds are available in your account on the installment due date to prevent being charged additional fees.

Enrolling in a Past Due Nelnet Payment Plan

1. 1. Past due payment plans require a $15.00, non-refundable, enrollment fee, per term, to be paid at the time of enrollment (payable to Nelnet).
   2. The payment method for payment plans is credit/debit card or bank account only. Students cannot enroll in a payment plan by paying cash.
   3. The down payment amount for past due payment plans is 20% or 25%, depending on the total of the term balance.  
   4. The installment plan length depends on the per-term balance:
      1. Term balances of $100-$999 – 25% down payment and three (3) installments
      2. Term Balances of $1,000 or higher – 20% down payment and four (4) installments
   5. Future installments are automatic payments from the bank account, or the debit/credit card used when enrolling. You can change the future installment payment method after enrolling.
   6. No changes can be made to the payment method for a scheduled payment in the two days prior to an installment due date.
   7. If the down payment on a payment plan fails, the payment plan will be cancelled.
   8. There is a $30 fee for returned/declined payment plan installments (payable to Nelnet).
   9. Past due balances must be paid off in full before registering for future classes.

A student with a final total tuition and fees bill of $516.00 would owe installment payments as follows:

If obligations are not paid in full upon notification by the college, these debts may be referred to an outside collection agency and to appropriate credit bureaus.

Resulting collection costs will be added to the original debt and the student must pay these costs, as well as attorney’s fees, if applicable.

Furthermore, all unpaid obligations will result in a hold on student records, diplomas, transcripts and future registration activity.

One per semester.

The payment balance and any installments not yet due will be adjusted within 24 hours of the add/drop activity.
