Lone Star College-University Park celebrates employee excellence during the 8th Annual Leo Awards

Lone Star College-University Park (LSC-University Park) held its 8th annual Leo Awards, recognizing outstanding employees. The award ceremony included 12 award categories, with six categories acknowledging and honoring employees who embody the cultural beliefs of Lone Star College. The Leo Awards are peer recognition awards, with faculty, staff, and administrators nominating candidates and voting for the recipients by secret ballot.

At the ceremony, 26 awards were given out, among them the highly regarded Award of Excellence, bestowed upon two individuals - Professor Richard Curry and adviser Ashley Guevara. The Award of Excellence is presented to one full-time and one part-time employee in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions and positive influence at the college.

LSC-University Park's Professional Support Staff Association (PSSA) and the Faculty Senate organize and co-host the Leo Awards.

Also, during the ceremony, Academic Coaching, the tutoring department of the Student Learning Resource Center (SLRC), gave special recognition to the entire math department for volunteer hours contributed to LSC-University Park's Math Hot Spot, which provides math assistance to students.
