Outstanding student achievements recognized

In addition to academic achievements, Lone Star College-CyFair recognizes the outstanding achievements of students in the more than 40 college student organizations.

“The clubs are not just fun but help enhance the overall educational experience of students through social, cultural and intellectual activities,” said Holly Williams, Student Activities Program Manager. “Student clubs also provide opportunities for students to compete for scholarships and awards as well as to gain leadership, organization and teamwork skills.”

The recent annual Student Awards Banquet highlighted the variety of clubs available and recognized the impact such clubs, students and sponsors, make across the campus and in the community.

Award winners this year include:
Outstanding Club of the Year: Phi Theta Kappa
Outstanding New Club of the Year: Economics Club
Outstanding Sponsor of the Year: Celia Barnes
Outstanding Club Officer of the Year: Isabel Balliache
Outstanding Club Member of the Year: Samuel Holmes
Student Activities Unsung Hero: Ashley Cruz

LSC-CyFair also offered two new leadership programs for students including a luncheon series through Student Activities and a Global Leadership Academy.

Leadership Lunch Series Certificate Recipients include: Balliache (who also received a perfect attendance honor) Tiffany Boatner, Roxanne Carr, Lauren Davis, Andrew Grant, Jeancarlo Guzman, Abraham Kamara, Thanhphuong Le, Amber Morrison, Grace Nam, Sarah Van Hoeven, Wendy Zambrano and Chris Zavala.
 
Global Leadership Academy Participants include: Qasim Antria, Ahmed Awad, Ebony Bovell, Tamer Elshamy, Tashara Frasher, Nicole Gica dos Santos, Makary Ishak, Mohamed Mansour, Alaa Salama, Donald Smith, Jason Thomas, Carmina Valtre and Bishoy Youssef.
