Cinema WOW! Summer Film Series

Expand your horizons and escape to the movies for free this summer at Lone Star College-CyFair!

The Cinema WOW! Film Series features six films which will focus on Film Noir: Past and Present. Classic film noir represents a genre of films defined by mood, sexual motivation, morally conflicted protagonists, themes of alienation and a dramatic and distorted visual style. Later neo-noir films echo this distinctive cinematic style.

LSC-CyFair presenters host these films, offered as individual continuing education Film Appreciation classes, as well as an engaging discussion after the movie.

The summer series includes “Blood Simple” Wednesday, June 10; “Laura” Tuesday, June 16 (at LSC-Fairbanks Center); “The African Queen” Wednesday, June 24; “Touch of Evil” Wednesday, July 8; “LA Confidential” Tuesday, July 14 (at LSC-Fairbanks Center); and “Bad Education” Wednesday, July 22.

All films are shown at 7 p.m. in Art 102 in the Center for the Arts building on the LSC-CyFair Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress or at the LSC-Fairbanks Center at 14955 Northwest Freeway.

Registration is required for this popular series, which is open to the community at no charge.
