Our team can help you navigate VA education benefits, connect with campus resources, and provide personalized advising to help you plan your path and make the most of your experience as a student veteran.

How Do I Get Started?

  1. Complete Admissions Application for Credit Programs
    a. Explore our Credit Programs
  2. Or apply to Continuing Education for Fast Track Programs
    a. Explore our Non-Credit Programs
    b. Create a myLoneStar account
    c. Review VA approved Non-Credit Degrees

  1. Obtain Official Transcripts
    a. Send Official Transcripts
  2. Request Military Transcripts
  3. Placement Testing/Confirm TSI Exemption

  1. Review education benefits you quality for - Veteran Education Benefits
  2. Apply for VA Benefits
  3. Apply for Hazlewood

  1. Meet with your Campus VA Advisor in person or virtually via Zoom.
  2. Register for classes
    a. To view and register for classes select "Manage Classes" tile from the "Student" tile in myLoneStar.
  3. Discuss Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

  1. Submit required documents via myLoneStar student portal and click on the Veterans Self Service tile to upload your GI Bill ® required documents and/or Hazlewood required documents
  2. Submit Request for Certification
    a. Submit your request each semester after you register for classes before the priority due date for each semester

VA Educational Benefits do not prevent you from receiving Financial Aid

  1. Complete the FAFSA application (LSCS school code: 011145)
  2. Register with Combined Arms
  3. Visit CARE for Completion

Veteran Services is currently accepting applications for those that are eligible. Please complete an application and submit it to GIBILL@LoneStar.edu for eligibility determination. (Note: Students are not required to submit a resume or cover letter per the VA).

Eligibility Requirements Application

The VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) program is here to help Veterans, Service members, and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling, leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers. Students receiving benefits from Veteran Services must comply with VA rules and regulations. To avoid overpayment, all transcripts must be evaluated, and credit(s) applied prior to certification of courses for benefits. Students are highly encouraged to have their military transcript evaluated to register for classes.

Compliance

Title 38 US Code 3679 subsection (e) Compliance

In accordance with Title 38 US Code 3679 subsection (e) Lone Star College (LSC) adopts the following additional provisions for any students using U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® (Ch. 33) or Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (Ch. 31) benefits, while payment to the LSC is pending from the VA.

LSC will not:

  • Prevent the student's enrollment;
  • Assess a late penalty fee to;
  • Require students to secure alternative or additional funding;
  • Deny access to any resources (access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities) available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to the College.

To qualify for this provision, such students may be required to:

  • Request Certification
  • Provide Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility (COE) (or its equivalent) or for Chapter 31 VR&E contract with the school on VA Form 28-1905 by the first day of class
  • Provide additional information needed to certify the enrollment as described in other institutional policies properly
