What are some of the benefits to transferring?

  • Some of our university partners will waive the application fee for Lone Star College students while others offer automatic acceptance with the completion of a Lone Star College Associates Degree.
  • The cost per credit hour at LSC is significantly cheaper than that of most 4-year universities... saving you thousands and offering a payment plan as well as FAFSA/TASFA aid and scholarship opportunities for need-based aide for qualifying students. Pay less here and transfer to save!
  • Utilize the benefits that LSC offers to its students to help you succeed for less, like $0 textbook classes!
  • Depending on the university you transfer to, some institutions will have scholarships specifically targeted to transfer students. Most often these scholarships are on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier you can apply, the better.

What's the maximum number of credits I can transfer to a university?

Generally, with our Texas universities, the maximum number is 66 credits; however, that number can change depending on the university. Check with the university you’re transferring to for the most accurate information.

What is the minimum GPA requirement for transfer students?

Check with the university you’re transferring to. You’ll look for admission requirements for transfer students not incoming freshman. Another key factor when transferring- certain majors or programs within a college may have a higher GPA requirement than the general transfer admissions- plan accordingly.

I’ve been to several different colleges; can I just send my most recent official transcript?

When transferring to other colleges/universities, students need to send official transcripts from each institution they’ve attended.

Can I just apply whenever to my transfer university?

Students need to be mindful of admission deadlines for universities. Applications and supporting documentation need to be submitted by the deadline. If students have courses in-progress when your official application is sent, another official transcript will need to be sent when final grades and/or degrees awarded have posted.
