Lone Star College Library Partnerships
The Harris Montgomery Information Consortium (Harmonic) partnership was developed as a cost-effective way for the Lone Star College System (LSC), Harris County Public Library (HCPL), and the Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS) to share library resources. Lone Star College System patrons can request and check out materials from any of the consortium libraries. Patrons follow the circulation guidelines of the library where they check materials out.
Lone Star College Library Materials Check Out and Return
All circulating items may be checked out for up to two weeks and may be renewed twice if there are no holds on the materials. Patrons may have a total of 20 items checked out at a time on their library account. Non-reserve materials may also be returned at any Lone Star College Library (LSC), Montgomery County Memorial Library System (MCMLS), or Harris County Public Library System (HCPL) locations.
Overdue Fines for Lone Star College Library Materials
Fines are $.25/day per item, up to a $3 maximum per item. Two-hour closed reserve fines are $.50/hour, up to a maximum of $6. One-, two-, and three-day reserve material fines are $1/day, up to a $6 maximum. Fines may be paid at any college library within the system. The patron is responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen materials. Charges include item replacement cost and accumulated fines.
The Library Card
Library materials are available for checkout to all faculty, staff, and students of Lone Star College System, as well as MCMLS and HCPL patrons and dual credit high school students. Patrons must obtain a library card in order to check out materials, including reserve materials. Lone Star College students, faculty, and staff can visit any LSC campus to get an LSC ID card, which also serves as their library card. The LSC card is accepted throughout the Lone Star College system and the public county libraries.
Online LSC students may request a library barcode that provides access to the LSC online library collections.
Additional information on how to get a Library Card is available at Get a Library Card.
Loans from Other Libraries
Patrons may request materials from any LSC, MCMLS, or HCPL location. In addition, LSC students, staff, and faculty may request materials from libraries outside of the consortium by completing the interlibrary loan form. There is no charge for this type of loan unless the lender charges for the service.
TexShare
The TexShare card allows the cardholder direct borrowing privileges from any participating college or university in Texas. LSC students, staff, and faculty may receive a TexShare card by completing the form online or at the circulation desk. Policies of the lending library govern the checkout of these materials.
A TexShare card issued by another Texas library may be used to check out system library materials. System circulation guidelines govern the checkout of these materials.
