Inspired by a passionate discussion with Amlan Datta, an Economics Professor at Lone Star College-Online, philanthropic couple, Satish and Kamlesh Agarwal wished to make a difference. They generously donated a $50,000 endowment to support future scholarships for Lone Star College-Online students, ensuring a lasting and positive impact.
Although Satish and Kamlesh Agarwal had no previous ties to Lone Star College-Online, they were impressed by the institution's outstanding work, supportive approach to students and its dedicated team of teaching academics. This, combined with the college's commitment to academic excellence, led them to establish an endowment scholarship for Lone Star College-Online students.
Originally from India, Agarwal earned a Master of Commerce degree from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and furthered his education at the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants in Kolkata (Calcutta). Since moving to the United States in 1981, he and his wife, Kamlesh, have generously supported universities and nonprofit organizations nationwide with their monetary donations.
Professor Amlan Datta recently accepted the Lone Star College-Online, Difference Maker award on behalf of Satish and Kamlesh Agarwal in honor of their generous donation. Professor Datta expressed his gratitude:
"I felt very honored to accept the award on behalf of Mr. Satish and Mrs. Kamlesh Agarwal, at our Spring Convocation. This incredibly generous donation to Lone Star College-Online, towards an endowment for student scholarships is transformative, and will make a significant difference in the lives of needy students. Interestingly, Mr. Agarwal initially insisted on providing the scholarships for only the students of 'Economics department.' It required a little persuasion to open it up for all our Lone Star College-Online students."
The Agarwals' generous donation will provide financial support in the form of scholarships to full-time students in good academic standing who are pursuing associate degrees at Lone Star College-Online. This endowment will help alleviate financial burdens, ensuring students can focus on their academic studies and reach their full potential.
