Lone Star College Foundation has funded 13,574 students more than $5.1 million in disaster relief over five natural disasters from Hurricane Harvey to Hurricane Beryl plus several floods and a winter storm since the fall of 2017.
Hurricane Beryl wreaked havoc on the greater Houston area July 8, causing widespread damage and power outages. LSC Foundation established the Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief Fund to provide storm impacted LSC students with financial assistance to help get their lives back on track.
In 2024 alone, the Lone Star College Foundation Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief Fund provided $1.8 million in aid to 5,300 students and awarded $174,000 to 400 students affected by the spring 2024 floods.
"To help make tomorrow better for those impacted by Hurricane Beryl, Lone Star College Foundation is pleased to financially assist students and employees while they wait for other forms of assistance and support through FEMA, insurance or other means," said Nicole Robinson Gauthier, CFRE, LSC Foundation executive director. "Thanks to a generous donor, the Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief Fund is helping them pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives."
LSC Foundation has a proven track record of supporting students through natural disasters, such as Hurricane Harvey, by awarding more than $2.2 million in emergency aid in the aftermath as many students struggled to stay in school while paying for unexpected hurricane damage and bills.
