Although many employees continued to work remotely due to the pandemic, LSC employees definitely joined together in spirit through this year's Employee Giving Campaign themed "One LSC". Employees from across the system raised more than $200,000 to support student scholarships, programs, and emergency support for both students and employees. To date, employees have supported Lone Star College with more than $1 million in donations!
Overall, 33% of employees chose to give this year, the majority through payroll deduction. Campaign Ambassadors had to get a little more creative this year with COVID-19 safety protocols in place but that didn't stop the volunteers. Ambassadors and volunteers created awareness of the Campaign with their creative virtual events, such as talent shows, game shows, trivia games, costume contests, scavenger hunts, concerts and more.
"The Ambassadors and Team Leaders also worked really hard to convey the true meaning of this year's "One LSC" theme, that when we all come together we can do amazing things for our students and each other," said Susan Summers, Director of Donor Relations for LSC Foundation.
Employees have several areas they can choose to support with employee and student emergency support funds being a popular choice. These funds support students and employees going through minor financial emergencies like auto repair, needed groceries, or paying utility bills.
Hundreds of employees participated this fall and over the years many have collectively contributed to several endowed scholarships. It seems like now, more than ever, LSC employees show that "a little bit from a lot of people is a winning combination".
