I'm a former student of the Lone Star Automotive Program (graduating class of Summer 2017) and I wanted to thank you and the automotive department for everything you've done for me. When I started, I had no aspirations to work in a Chrysler dealership, but the MOPAR CAP program has been a blessing in my life. I found myself employed at Gulfgate Dodge in South Houston within 2 months of graduation as an apprentice technician, working under a senior tech who specialized in transmission work. I started out doing lots of airbag recalls but learned more and more over the last year from shadowing my mentor through heavy line jobs until I was able to do them by myself. The Snap-On Tools we were given have been a tremendous help as well. Having all of your basics, top of the line, and taken care of means that every tool I've purchased since starting at the dealership has been a specialized tool that sets me apart from other technicians. Last week I was promoted from apprentice to full line tech and moved from hourly to flag hours with a 36 hour guarantee every week and a raise from $12/hr to $17/hr. Because of this, I've signed a lease at an apartment and am moving out of my parents home. I just wanted to share my success story because I'm sure you don't often get to hear what becomes of the students you work with. Once again, thank you, and keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Alexander Meehan
