Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants help people to maximize their quality of life. They work with people of all ages and abilities, and in a variety of settings. They help people rehabilitate from devastating injuries, manage chronic conditions, avoid surgery and prescription drugs, and create healthy habits. (APTA) 

At Lone Star College, you may choose between an Associate of Science degree plan which would begin you on a pathway to become a physical therapist. You would complete your AS and transfer to a four year college followed by a doctoral program in physical therapy. 

OR, choose to become a physical therapist assistant which is located on the Lone Star College­ Montgomery campus. 

The PTA course of study is approximately two-years (101 consecutive weeks), leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree. The PTA program is a competitive admission program and requires a selective admission application located on the Lone Star College-Montgomery PTA department web page. One cohort is accepted into the program each year. 

Besides PTA courses, the program includes general education and science courses necessary for earning an Associates in Applied Science degree. Successful completion of the program satisfies the academic requirement for applying for the state licensure as a PTA and satisfies the requirement for graduates to take the NPTE, the national PTA licensing exam.
