Library Technical Services provides a collaborative, service-oriented environment that is welcoming, supportive, and innovative for the LSC community and our stakeholders.

Library Technical Services supports the campus libraries in their mission to provide a successful educational experience, nurture the intellectual and cultural life of the community, encourage critical thought, promote information literacy, and provide innovative and high-quality services and programs. This department supports access to library materials through acquisitions, cataloging, digital resource management, and discovery systems.

Lone Star College libraries maintain a consortium arrangement (HARMONIC) with the Montgomery County Memorial Library System and the Harris County Public Libraries, sharing an electronic database of library holdings in the library catalog. The consortium allows for intra-library loan of materials, maximizing the collection of all entities while still allowing each to focus on its own patron needs.

Services

• Acquisitions (purchasing and receiving orders of print and non-print materials);
• Cataloging (organization and bibliographic description of print and non-print materials);
• Electronic Resource Management (acquire, license, maintain, evaluate, and provide access to electronic resources)
• Discovery Systems – (manage library resource discovery systems)
• Interlibrary Loans (borrowing and lending of books, articles, and other materials unavailable within the Harmonic Consortium's libraries)
• Serials (processing of all print journals, magazines, and newspapers)
