Under the direction of Ray Laughter, vice chancellor for External Affairs, the Office of External Affairs provides information, leadership and support to the communities served by the Lone Star College System.
The Office of External Affairs includes:
The office endeavors to establish comprehensive programming to expand and sustain the community's trust in the institution and continueto build a positive relationship between the college and the general public. The office serves as the college's primary point of contact with elected and appointed local, state and federal government officials.
The office develops strategies and activities to ensure consideration by federal, state and local government officials. In addition, it holds the charge of overseeing and implementing legislative and regulatory relationships with the Congress, State Legislature, City Council and County Commission, and governmental offices and agencies, chambers of commerce and community at all levels.
The Office of Government Affairs develops external relations with major local, regional and national business and government leaders and organizations.
Lone Star College Foundation
Secures and manages unrestricted and restricted assets to continually support and enrich the academic and scholarship programs of LSCS.
Resource Development and Administration
Identifies funding opportunities and develops resources to support programs through external funding.
Communications & Media Relations
Responsible for developing, planning and implementing communications, marketing and media relations strategies and tactics.
Provides web design and development, rich media content, digital signage and video services
Provides assistance with marketing and communications projects and plans for external departments or offices, and ensures that these plans are coordinated with the overall goals and strategies of Lone Star College.
Provides and produces general print pieces about Lone Star College including schedules, catalogues, brochures, invitations and more.
Community Leadership Institute
Provides leadership programs for community and student leaders.
Small Business Development Center
Provides business counseling for business owners or prospective owners of companies with less than 500 employees. Counselors are located at each campus to assist clients.
