LSC-Kingwood KidCare

LSC-Kingwood KidCare in partnership with Lake Houston YMCA KidCare program

In an effort to assist students with child care services, LSC-Kingwood established KidCare. The program is designed to provide children 3–5 years of age with daytime child care services while students attend class. KidCare is available to students who are enrolled in at least six hours of coursework. The program is located in the newly remodeled facility in the college’s Performing Arts Center (PAC). The program is administered in cooperation with the Lake Houston YMCA KidCare program.

The mission of the KidCare program is to provide exemplary childcare services for the children of students attending the college

The following are commonly asked questions about the program.

Q. What are the hours of operation?

A. The hours of operation are 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Q. What is the age group?

A. The program is only available to children 3–5 years of age.

Q. What is the cost?

A. LSC-Kingwood is committed to provide child care services at an affordable cost to the student. The cost is $50 per week per child and includes activities and snacks.

Q. What is the student/teacher ratio?

A. The program runs with a preferred ratio of 1 to 10. Staff members meet all requirements according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, including but not limited to

  • TDFPS background check
  • Completed FBI fingerprinting
  • Certified CPR/first-aid
  • Orientation/pre-service and observation training
  • Monthly training

Q. How many children can the facility accommodate?

A. No more than 35 students can be accommodated at one time. The program provides services to students on a first-come, first served basis.

Q. What is the curriculum for children? Are snacks provided?

A. The curriculum is designed with specific objectives for each age level and child. Children receive snacks during their stay.

Q. How do I register my child?

A. Students must register by obtaining a form at the Student Conference Center (SCC 130) or Kid Care Center (PAC 101). Students can also call 281.318.4338 or email for additional information.
