The Resource Development & Administration (RDA) office assists faculty and staff in obtaining and managing grant funding to advance the Mission, Vision and Strategic Outcomes (Ends) of Lone Star College System. The department’s mission is supporting the development of projects and programs that foster teaching and learning strategies designed to enhance student success and completion. The Grants Office does not offer grant writing courses to the general public or grants and scholarships directly to students.
If you have an idea or program that would benefit from additional funds, RDA Grant Writers can help you identify potential funding sources from state and federal agencies, private foundations and corporations as well as assist in application development. The role of RDA Grant Writers is to be the “process expert” that coordinates with key individuals or a grant development team on planning, data retrieval in conjunction with Institutional Research and Planning, development of goals, objectives and outcomes, and Lone Star College System’s legal review process. The process is outlined in the Grants Development Process Chart.
Administrators and staff are required to make RDA aware of any grant-seeking activities before beginning work on a proposal. RDA Grant Writers are available to coordinate planning meetings to discuss project ideas, assist with preliminary program and budget development and to analyze proposals for consistency with Lone Star College System priorities and strategic fit with the requirements of the funding source. To initiate grants planning, contact RDA to learn more about the process.
RDA’s resources don’t stop at developing proposals. Once a grant is funded our Compliance staff will assist in setting up the processes for successful grant management. In addition, staff will provide technical assistance and oversight of project implementation.
The RDA Office also houses the Institutional Review Board (IRB) office to ensure that your projects are in compliance with federal human subject research requirements, and act in accordance with federal common rule funders.
