Intermediate and advanced dancers are invited to register for the first Summer Dance Intensive Program hosted by Lone Star College-Kingwood and Rednerrus Feil Dance Company (RFDC).
Held on the college campus, the intensive program will take place June 7-9. Registration is open to dancers age 16 and older who wish to gain college or professional experience. Participants will learn a highly concentrated curriculum with professional expertise training and technique from LSC-Kingwood faculty, RFDC directors, and guest artists.
“The college’s Dance Department and RFDC share the primary goal of giving young artists an opportunity to dive deeper into the art of dance by gaining college and professional experience,” said Amy Llanes, adjunct dance instructor at LSC-Kingwood and artistic director at RFDC.
The three-day event will include instruction in Laban/Bartenieff Practices, Modern, Ballet, Improvisation, Choreography, and RFDC Repertory along with electives in Hula, Tap, Hip Hop and Jazz dance technique. The weekend will conclude with an informal showing of the participants’ choreographic studies along with the repertory presented.
To register early for the Summer Dance Intensive Program, the cost is $75 for a one day pass or $200 for a full three-day pass. Early registration ends June 1. After June 1, registration fees are $90 for a one day pass and $240 for a full three-day pass. Participants who register before June 1 are eligible to participate in the meal plan with local restaurants. After June 1 or if not participating in the meal plan, participants will need to bring a lunch and snacks. Other recommended items are bottled water, a towel, and appropriate dance shoes.
