|Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Open House is on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Student-Conference Center. For more information, call 281-318-4312.|
Held in the Student-Conference Center, potential students, parents and community members will have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with the various credit, workforce, continuing education and student service programs that are offered at the college.
“Open House is a great chance for the community to visit our beautiful campus, our first-rate facilities, and our warm and accommodating faculty and staff. We encourage anyone with an interest in higher education to come and visit with us during this event,” said John Turner, associate dean of Student Development. “We’ll have a variety of events planned, that include an expo-style program showcase, tours of campus, free food, live music, and activities especially for our younger visitors.”
Participating departments will provide handouts as well as conduct demonstrations (if applicable) and visitors are invited to take a tour of the campus. Prospective students will have a chance to win iPads, iTunes gift cards, Dynamo tickets and movie tickets during the afternoon. As a part of the Open House, the public is invited to attend an outdoor festival, hosted by the Office of Student Life, complete with live music and free crawfish.
“The one-on-one attention that we can provide at events like this creates a much richer bond with our community, and allows us to pay specific attention to the individual needs of our potential students and their families,” Turner said. “It’s going to be a wonderful event, with almost a homecoming-style feel, that we know will energize potential students, community members, alumni, and our faculty and staff.”
