LSC-Montgomery’s Music Department Promises Ear-Pleasing Semester of Concert Events
Published on: September 11, 2013
Engage your sense of hearing this semester, as Lone Star College-Montgomery’s music department debuts an exciting line-up of ear-pleasing musical events. From guest artist recitals to large ensemble concerts, many diverse performances are offered for the entire community to enjoy.
“The partnerships we have within the musical community allow our campus to offer patrons top notch music events,” said Earl Holt, professor and department chair of music and dance at LSC-Montgomery. “Plus, our students work very hard to polish their skills and provide professional performances. It’s going to be a great semester.”
This fall, the community can enjoy performances by the college’s Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers. These events, along with weekly Recital Hour performances on select Fridays at 1 p.m., offer a chance to hear LSC-Montgomery music students perform for their peers, as well as highlight other noted performers on piano, saxophone, and more.
The college’s major event this fall is the Holiday Benefit Concert on Friday, December 5, which offers an evening of holiday song to help raise money for Interfaith of The Woodlands.
"I always look forward to performing in the Holiday Benefit Concert, because not only does the choir sing beautiful Christmas songs, but I get to participate in a large scale collaboration of the Concert Choir, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Orchestra,” said Hazel Fabon, an LSC-Montgomery music student and member of the college’s Chamber Singers.
In addition to the college’s continued partnership with Guitar Houston, a non-profit classical guitar organization, the music department is excited to have Conroe Piano Teachers Association offer recitals and workshops throughout the year.
The major concert events this fall include:
Recital Hour / Jordan Ong: September 13
Recital Hour / Johnny Salinas, saxophone: October 4
Jazz Ensemble Concert: October 8
Symphonic Band and String Ensemble Concert: October 10
Fall Choir Concert: October 17
Recital Hour / Dr. Kyle Kindred, composition/lecture: October 18
Recital Hour / Vicennium Void: November 15

All events take place in the college’s state-of-the-art Recital Hall, located in the Music Hall (Building H), except for the Holiday Benefit Concert, which takes place in the Mainstage Theatre, located in the Performing Arts Center (Building D). Events begin at 7:30 p.m., except for the Recital Hour performances, which take place at 1 p.m.
