Published on: August 22, 2013With the election season fast approaching, students who need to register to vote can do so at Lone Star College-Kingwood.
The voter registration drives will take place in the Student-Conference Center foyer on Sept. 3 and 17 from 12-2 p.m. and in front of the Library on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Students must provide a government issued identification such as a driver’s license or social security card as well as their address.
“It is important to get students engaged in the political system since the 18-29 year old age group participates at the lowest levels of any age group,” said Dr. John Theis, political science professor at LSC-Kingwood. “The drives will allow students to either register or reregister (because they moved) to vote.
Students who want to participate in future voter registration drives and collect registration cards must be a deputized voter registrar. A training session to become a deputized voter registrar is on Sept. 24 from 12-2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center room 125.
