Competency-Based Education (CBE)

What is Competency-Based Education?

Competency-Based Education takes a set of student learning outcomes and breaks them down into competencies. Once a student demonstrates they have mastered these competencies then they are able to get credit for them. Once signed up for a CBE course, each student will have a mentor who will work with them to help them decide if they have enough knowledge of each competency to take a pretest and show a mastery of the competency or if they would be better completing the course before taking the test.
