Position 3, Trustee
Owner/CEO - Kingwood Air Conditioning
Resident of Kingwood
Term expires November 2014
Stephanie Marquard is the owner of Kingwood Air Conditioning & Heating, a company specializing in sales, service and installation of residential and commercial HVAC equipment. Kingwood Air has grown from a small one truck operation to a successful multimillion dollar corporation, located in Kingwood, Texas.
In 1990, two significant events set the course for Stephanie’s business future. The first of these was passing the State exam for which she earned her Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors License. This was quite an accomplishment since there were so few women HVAC contractors in the State of Texas. Second, Kingwood Air Conditioning was awarded “Small Contractor of the Year” by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, a national organization with thousands of contractor members.
Stephanie served in various positions on the Board of the Air Conditioning Council of Greater Houston until elected President in 1993. Three years later in 1996, she was elected President of the State Air Conditioning Contractors Association. In both cases, Stephanie set precedence by becoming the first women to serve as President of both organizations whose membership was predominantly male. She continues her involvement and participation in the A/C industry by chairing committees such as the legislative and continuing education (for contractors). She is called on regularly by the local organization (ACCA-GH) to head up management round tables which benefits contractors new to the industry. In 2007, Stephanie was honored by her peers as an outstanding contractor and inducted into the Air Conditioning “Hall of Fame”.
Community involvement is of the utmost importance to Stephanie. She has been a member or officer of many civic and business organizations and contributes time and money to support their worthwhile endeavors. Stephanie is presently serving on the Board of Trustees of the Lone Star College System and has done so since 1995. As a trustee, she sees many challenges and opportunities on the horizon but staying connected with the community and responding to their emerging needs is crucial. The greatest rewards and the most valuable life lessons that Stephanie has experienced is while serving on the Board of Trustees. She is proud to be part of a College that is passionate about student success; employs the highest quality faculty and staff; is an exceptional community partner and delivers what it promises to the taxpayers.
