Mission Statement

Disability Services believes in equal access to educational opportunities for all individuals. Therefore, we endeavor to create, promote, and maintain an environment where all individuals with disabilities have access to educational opportunities with minimal adaptations. We will do this by:

• Promoting accessibility through utilization of assistive technology and the principles of Universal Design
• Developing an institutional culture of acceptance and shared ownership
• Providing exemplary service
• Establishing accountability by maintaining cost efficient and effective services

Role of Disability Services

The goal of Disability Services is to provide as much assistance as possible to both students with disabilities and their instructors.  Disability Services Staff at each campus assist students with disabilities to achieve equal access to instruction in order to pursue their educational goals.  Services, supports, and accommodations are individualized to meet the specific documented needs of the student.

Legal Basis for Disability Services

The District and each college comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. In accordance with these laws, the college provides reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities and assures access to college facilities, programs, and activities.
