Published on: August 30, 2013Earning a four-year degree at a community college is now a reality at Lone Star College-Atascocita Center.
In partnership with the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD), students can now earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in General Business entirely on the Atascocita campus. Interested students and community members can learn more about the program at the Joint Information Sessions on Sept. 16 and Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. in room 206 and Oct. 23 and Dec. 11 at 12 p.m. in room 218. All sessions are at LSC-Atascocita Center.
“The sessions focus on the details to get started at either Lone Star College (LSC) or UHD and more specifically on the BBA program,” said David Baty, dean of LSC-Atascocita Center. “We will provide ‘getting started’ materials for both LSC and UHD.”
UHD’s BBA program is offered in the evenings in special eight week sessions at the center. Students will learn an overview of the principles of modern business including accounting, management and basic communication skills. Once students complete their core courses at LSC-Atascocita Center, they will take required classes for the BBA program offered through UHD at the center.
“Our goal is to help inform area communities that they can complete a four-year degree close to their homes,” said Dale Higginbotham, coordinator/advisor of Distance Education at UHD.
Courses in the BBA program include legal environment of business, statistical analysis for business applications, commercial law, small business finance, introduction to supply chain and entrepreneurship.
