Promotional Image for Little Shop of HorrorsLone Star College-Montgomery’s theatre department is now selling tickets to its summer musical, Little Shop of Horrors, book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. The performance will begin with a free preview on Wednesday, July 8, at 5:30 p.m. The show dates for Little Shop of Horrors include Thursday through Saturday, July 9-11, at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee performance on Saturday, July 11, at 2 p.m.

A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon "Audrey II" grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination!

One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Cast members include Thomas Krottinger, Lindsey Edwards, Joey Bansuelo, Ryan Wilson, Sean Rooney, Laurel Johnston, Corey Smothers and Crystal Stampes.

Chase Waites, director and associate professor of theatre, states, “This production is loaded with talent. The cream has really risen to the top with this cast and crew. You're not going to have a better time in the theatre than you will with a show as fun as this one. It incorporates all of the things we love about musical theatre comedy: great music, a witty book, and a plant that eats people!”

Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, Little Shop of Horrors never fails to entertain. This entertaining performance will run for one weekend only.
