Center for the Arts Season is Now Under Way

Arts Fall 2014 ScheduleA variety of visual and performing arts highlighting Lone Star College-CyFair’s student and faculty talent can be seen in the Bosque Gallery and in the Main Stage Theatre this fall.

Add a little culture to your year at one or all three art exhibitions starting with “Mostly Mixed Messages” featuring the talent of Professor Stacy Gresell. Come see her passion in this encaustic and acrylic painting exhibition on display through Sept. 18. Then return to see the creativity of LSC-CyFair’s faculty and students with the “Art Faculty Exhibition” Oct. 7 through Oct. 30 and the “Student Works” exhibition Nov. 18 through Dec. 4. Meet the artists in person at receptions set for 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4, Oct. 23 and Dec. 4 respectively.

All exhibitions are in the Bosque Gallery in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress. For gallery hours, artist receptions and exhibition information, go to LoneStar.edu/BosqueGallery or call 281.290.3252 or 281.290.5273.

In addition to visual arts, don’t miss LSC-CyFair’s performing arts events starting Oct. 17-26 with a drama production “The Glass Menagerie.” Then LSC-CyFair’s Symphonic Band and String Ensemble take to the stage Nov. 14 with “String and Wind Indulgence!” The Jazz Ensemble performs Nov. 19 with “Big Band is Back!.”

The season concludes in December with three vocal events. Mark the calendar Dec. 1 for the “Pop Songwriting Concert” and Dec. 4 for the “Pop Singers Concert” highlighting the musical talents of LSC-CyFair students. Then bring the family Dec. 6 for the choral production “Chamber Singers Holiday Concert.”

All performances will be held in the Main Stage Theatre (except Dec. 1 event which will be in the Recital Hall) in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress. For tickets, group rates and information, go to LoneStar.edu/boxoffice or call 281.290.5201.
