Veterinary Technology Program hosts information session April 11

Lone Star College-Tomball’s Veterinary Technology program will host information session on April 11 at 9:00am at the college’s veterinary technology building. The information sessions are free and all are welcome with pre-registration by calling Denise Metz, RVT at 281.351.3354.

For those looking to work with animals, the veterinary technology program at LSC-Tomball provides comprehensive training to become a licensed veterinary technician. A veterinary technician provides support to the Licensed Veterinarian by performing laboratory tests, taking X-rays, nursing care, skilled anesthesia monitoring and client education.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, between 2012 and 2022, there will be a 30 percent increase in the number of jobs for veterinary technologists and technicians. This is much faster than the growth in most employment fields. The requirement for an entry level position is an associate’s degree, which is offered through LSC-Tomball’s associate of applied science degree.

LSC-Tomball’s Veterinary Technology program has been twice recognized as an exemplary program by the State of Texas and its students have one of the highest success rates in passing the state and national board exams among the 218 accredited programs in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
