Lone Star College-Online wins Sloan-Consortium award for Excellence

Lone Star College System announced that Lone Star College-Online has won the 2013 Sloan-C Award, Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Education.

This annual award is presented by the Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C), a leading professional online learning society devoted to advancing quality e-Education learning into the mainstream of education.

“This award is a testament to the hard work of everyone at LSC-Online, and our mission of providing our students with online learning opportunities to meet their educational goals,” said Denise Evans, director of client relations and quality assurance. “LSC-Online allows students to attain college credit from anywhere using an assortment of learning activities such as discussion, class projects, exams, presentations and written papers”

“This year’s field of nominees implemented an impressive array of innovative approaches, creating a highly competitive selection process,” added Burks Oakley II, chair of the Awards Selection Committee. “The 2013 recipients have demonstrated exceptional leadership and real success in advancing online education.”  

The purpose of the Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Education award is to recognize an organization that has designed and implemented an outstanding and comprehensive online learning curriculum.  The institution's online programs must be of demonstrably high quality. , offering multiple regional or national online learning programs in diverse disciplines, including degree, certificate and continuing education programs.  The award will be presented Nov. 21 at the Sloan-C annual meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Originally funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Sloan Consortium is now a nonprofit 501(c) (3), member-sustained organization.
