Published on: September 13, 2012The audience is in store for pure comedy and entertainment at Lone Star College-Kingwood’s first theatre production for 2012-2013.
“The Great American Trailer Park” will provide plenty of laughs, a good time, and perhaps a can or two of spray cheese. The production will take place Oct. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 6-7 at 2 p.m. on the college’s main stage in the Performing Arts Theatre.
“This is the first time that we have produced this show on campus; it was wildly popular in Houston at Stages Repertory,” said Eric Skiles, drama professor and artistic director of theatre at LSC-Kingwood. “We chose this production for pure entertainment value – it will be lots of fun for the audience and performers.”
In “The Great American Trailer Park”, the audience will be introduced to a new tenant at Armadillo Acres – and she is wreaking havoc all over Florida’s most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil- loving agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, Norbert, - a storm begins to brew. WARNING: This musical contains tacky outfits, bad wigs, crude language, adultery, strippers, road kill, electrocution and spray cheese. It is for mature audiences only.
“This story revolves around Norbert’s and Jeannie’s challenges in life and Pippi, the stripper who arrives in town,” Skiles said. “This has a great mix of music and a comic storyline. People are invited to come and laugh at the crazy antics of these people.”
The cast is comprised of Kathryn Logue, playing Jeannie; Tara Lawson, as Pippi; Dan Calderon playing Duke; Brittany Washington as Betty; Amanda Merrick playing Pickles; Melissa Sturgis as Lin; and Skiles playing Norbert. The production team consists of Skiles, director and choreographer; Kalliope Vlahos, production design; and Jay Whatley, music director.
