LSC-CyFair Staff, Students and Guests Celebrate Two New Buildings with Ribbon-cutting Dedication Events

Lone Star College-CyFair recently dedicated two new facilities on the Barker Cypress campus Nov. 29 – the Center for Academic and Student Affairs (CASA) and a Health Science Center expansion.

College students and employees joined President Dr. Audre Levy as she cut the ribbon at the Health Science Center and CASA morning dedication celebrations. Then Lone Star College System Chancellor Dr. Richard Carpenter, board of trustees and other college presidents and officials as well as community partners and members attended an official afternoon dedication that included a video of student testimonials, several student skits, a reception and building tours.

“The two facilities we’re dedicating represent investments in our students’ future. They also represent tangible investments in the future of our community,” said Dr. Carpenter, who cut the ribbon with Board of Trustees Secretary Priscilla Kelly and Dr. Levy. “Whether it be in the science or health professions or general education, the results will be the same. Together we’re changing lives for the better. Together we’re opening doors to brighter futures.”

The Center for Academic and Student Affairs is a three-story 138,000-square-foot instructional and student services facility.  This new building is the largest on the Barker Cypress campus and features general purpose classrooms and computer labs; a 100-person tiered lecture hall; faculty and staff work/conference/meeting spaces and administrative offices suites as well as houses student services from admissions, registration and enrollment to counseling, advising, financial aid and more.

The Health Science Center is a two-story 57,000-square-foot addition to the existing Health Science building. This new space has added instructional classrooms; a variety of labs; faculty and staff work spaces and offices as well as several large spacious open areas and balcony areas including one with a view of the college’s core and lake areas.

Registration is under way for December mini-mester and spring semester. For information, go to LoneStar.edu/registration.Ribbon cutting at the Health Science Center expansion
