Open House Set Sept. 10 for Ages 50 and Better

It’s time to for active adults 50 and better to enjoy making new friends as well as a wide variety of classes, day trips, activities and experiences in the Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) at Lone Star College-CyFair.

Registration for Fall 2011 classes begins at the Open House from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 10 in the Conference Center on the campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.

“A.L.L. members have a unique opportunity to interact with friends, neighbors and community leaders with similar interests,” said Continuing Education Director Kenya White. “With new classes, trips and social activities for continued intellectual and personal growth included in the schedule every semester, A.L.L. has something for everyone.”

This fall, choose from some 80 different classes with topics from food to finance, arts to agriculture, history lessons to how to find happiness, just to name a few. Class times range from a few hours to several weeks. Most are free with some requiring only a nominal event, supply or entrance fee.

The annual membership fee of $20 is good from September 2011 to August 2012 allows members to even take advantage of extra perks at the college and in the area, such as discounts at plays, concerts, movies and restaurants. In addition, members have the opportunity teach an A.L.L. class or serve on the A.L.L. advisory board and/or committees.
