All ages will enjoy Vivaldi's "Gloria" April 8

Enjoy a musical evening April 8 with Lone Star College-CyFair’s Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra in the World Music Series presentation of “Gloria.”

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers and his “Gloria” is one of the most frequently performed examples of sacred music from that Baroque era. His music was innovative and brightened the formal and rhythmic structure of the concerto, in which he looked for harmonic contrasts and innovative melodies and themes. Many of his compositions are flamboyantly, almost playfully, exuberant.

Alex Qian, LSC-CyFair’s artistic director of vocal activities, teams up with Dr. Shih-Ting Huang, LSC-CyFair’s Chamber Orchestra conductor, for this spring performance with four-part choruses, soprano and contralto solos and distinctive melodies and rhythms that appeal to all.

The 7:30 p.m. Friday performance will be held in the Main Stage Theatre in the Center for the Arts building at 9191 Barker Cypress. A reception will follow.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students with valid ID. Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District students K-12 with valid ID are free. Group discounts are available.
