Gary Clark named vice president for instruction at LSC-North Harris

Gary Clark, long-time professor at Lone Star College-North Harris, and most recently dean of business, social and behavioral sciences, was named the college’s vice president for instruction. In his new role, Clark will serve as the college’s chief academic officer and provide leadership for student learning and academic affairs.

“Gary has an incredible amount of experience within the Lone Star College System. His knowledge of our academic and workforce areas, as well as his familiarity with the college and its history, make him a wonderful fit for his new position,” said Dr. Steve Head, LSC-North Harris president.

Clark’s professional accolades include membership in the Who’s Who among America’s Teachers, Who’s Who in Houston, Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration, and the American Mensa Society. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Houston and an M.B.A. from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, graduating with highest honors.

“I firmly believe that LSC-North Harris provides an invaluable resource for students and the entire community,” said Clark. “I’m thrilled with this opportunity to lead such a critical endeavor and continue strengthening our commitment to student success.”

In addition to his service to LSC-North Harris, Clark is an active member in the birding and conservation community, and writes a weekly nature column that appears in both the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express News. He is an award-winning author of several nature books and his articles have been published in both state and national magazines. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition.
