Continuing Education Courses Offered at LSC-Conroe Center This Fall

Conroe-area residents interested in professional development, personal enrichment–or both–need look no further than Lone Star College-Conroe Center, which offers an assortment of individual continuing education classes this fall.

“LSC-Conroe Center offers several individual courses to the public, which are separate from the growing list of certification programs available,” said Dr. Roberto Rodriguez, director of LSC-Conroe Center. “Most do not require the same time commitment as courses associated with a certification program.”

Basic Automotive Maintenance for Women and Basic Motorcycle Concepts and Maintenance are two unique, personal enrichment courses offered this fall at LSC-Conroe Center. Both courses, which each meet for only two Saturdays, familiarize the student with the proper procedures and principles concerning maintenance of either an automobile or motorcycle. The automotive class starts September 12; the motorcycle class begins August 22.

The Job Search and Employment Skills course, which meets twice a week for approximately three weeks, helps prepare students to obtain and maintain a job. It covers interview procedures, employer expectations, personal appearance, as well as writing a resume and cover letter. Start dates are September 22 or October 13.

“We also offer several computer technology courses, ranging from a basic Computer Fundamentals course to courses on specific computer software like AutoCAD, QuickBooks, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, ” said Rodriguez.

The computer courses meet two or three times a week in either the mornings or the evenings for approximately two to four weeks each. Computer Fundamentals explains computer technology, hardware and software applications, the Windows operating system, and the Internet. Three sessions of the courses are being offered this fall. Start dates are August 17, August 18, or October 12.

Courses offered on specific software cover the exclusive tools and terminology used in each individual program. Specific start dates are varied for each class, but range from early September to late November.

Also, one Saturday a month through December, LSC-Conroe Center will offer CPR for the Health Care Provider, a one-day instruction on the lifesaving skills of respiratory and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants. This class meets the certifying requirements of the American Heart Association and is offered on September 12, October 10, November 7, and December 5.
