Phi Theta Kappa has a rigorous academic requirement for admission and continued membership. The Society brings together some of the top students on each campus who combine their scholarly prowess and a multitude of talents and abilities to make an impact on campus and in their communities and regions. In addition, every two years the Society selects and focuses on an Honors Topic. The current topic is "Dimensions and Directions in Health: Choices in the Maze." Chapters use an interdisciplinary approach to examine each Honors Topic and many chapter activities also focus on it.
Members of Phi Theta Kappa have numerous leadership opportunities both on and off campus. Some members are elected to an office at the chapter, regional, or international levels. Others, through active membership, emerge as campus and community leaders. Through organizing and conducting chapter activities, members improve their organizational and communication skills, sharpen their problem solving abilities, and become effective leaders.
Phi Theta Kappa brings together a highly motivated group of talented scholars who share the bond of academic excellence. Through chapter activities, members can make friends at all levels of the organization. In addition, they have tremendous interaction with college personnel at all levels and community leaders. Activities are often designed to include members' families and friends as well.
Phi Theta Kappa has over 1.3 million members. When you have that many individuals of high intellect and character, much can be done. Phi Theta Kappa is known for its generosity and dedication to making a difference in our world. The Society provides an organized forum through which members can work together to effect change. The Society includes tremendously talented and capable individuals who truly do reach out and help.
