Digital Media System (DMS) Guidelines - Fairbanks Center

WHO CAN SUBMIT CONTENT?

Any Lone Star College System division, department or registered student organization can submit events and/or announcements for display on the Lone Star DMS.  For inclusion, content must:

  • Be approved by the proposed display campus' public affairs office.
  • Have students, faculty or staff as its primary audience.
  • Be date-sensitive in that it is something happening in the coming month.
  • Be a one-time event or activity, not a recurring one.  This requirement may not apply in some cases.  Contact the requested display campus’ public affairs office for details. 
  • Not be for a specific course or class offering.  This requirement may not apply in some cases.  Contact the requested display campus’ public relations office for details. 
  • Provide complete information, including the "who, what, when, where, and why" of the event or announcement, along with the contact person, his/her e-mail address and phone number, as well as the Web address where more information can be found, if applicable.

Please note: Content submitted by registered student organizations must come from the club’s faculty advisor.

CONTENT SUBMISSION

Submit still images and/or video as an attachment or on one CD/DVD. Persons submitting content should be aware that physical CDs and/or DVDs become property of Lone Star College System, and that the review process for new content could take up to two weeks.

COPYRIGHT

It is a violation of Title 17, United States Code, to modify, enhance or reproduce images without the express consent of the copyright holder. Therefore, all photos, images and logos used on the Lone Star DMS require prior written consent of an authorized party.  For the individual or group release of local photos, illustrations, clip art and shapes, as well as video, please complete a \Model Release Form.

TEXT

Similar to a print ad, text displayed in the main area of a monitor should start with a catchy headline that encourages viewers to read more. The accompanying text should be as brief as possible.  All content and images are subject to editing.  Please be aware that the public affairs office may not provide proofs before posting and cannot ensure submitted content will appear as presented.

STILL IMAGES/VIDEOS

Photos, illustrations, clip art and shapes, as well as video, should complement submitted text.

ALL PDF DOCUMENTS, FLYERS, ETC. SHOULD BE FORMATTED 14 X 8.5" LANDSCAPE or 1,366 x 768" (PREFERRED). PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT TEXT ON POWER POINTS, PDF DOCUMENTS, FLYERS, FLASH, ETC. SHOULD BE IN A LARGE ENOUGH FONT FOR VIEWERS TO READ FROM 15FT AWAY.
  • Individual photos should be 180 to 300 dpi (preferred). 
    Videos should be AVI, MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264 or MOV and no more
    than 3 minutes in length (preferred).


  • AUDIO
    Audio is only available at select locations.  Please contact
    the requested display campus’ public affairs office for more information.

  • TIMELINES
    Please submit content at least two weeks in advance of the
    requested airdate.  Date-sensitive content will air a maximum of one month in advance of its specified event date.
