David Dahnke

David Dahnke is Chair of ESL, Languages, and Interpreter Training at Lone Star College – North Harris.  David has a BA in Social Work from the U. of Wisconsin-Madison, an MA in Bicultural-Bilingual Studies from the U. of Texas at San Antonio, and is ABD in Reading Education and Linguistics from Kent State U.  He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia; he taught EFL in Saigon, Vietnam, while serving in the US Air Force.  Mr. Dahnke taught ESL at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and the U. of Akron before becoming Director of the American-Nicaraguan School in Managua, Nicaragua.  In 1982 he came to North Harris College and has taught ESL and Spanish here since then.  In 1987 he returned to Nicaragua as a Fulbright Scholar for 18 months to teach EFL at La Universidad Politecnica.   David has 3 children: Michael, Stephanie, and Jorge.  He and his wife, Pliar, have one grandchild, Alexander David .  In his spare time, David enjoys reading, playing golf, and jogging.
