I was one of the founding adjunct faculty and now a full time faculty in Biology Department ,Cy-Fair College. I teach Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Biology for Majors and Non-majors. I had the opportunity of teaching online classes for A&P I in Spring 2004 and Biol. 1406 in Summer 05. I have used the WebCT for all my traditional classes to take advantage of the wonderful world of technology and give support to my students 24/7 . It is very useful supplement. So, the students get the working knowledge of high level computer skills along with the course content.

I enjoy teaching as I am professionally trained teacher. I have Bachelors degrees in both Zoology (with Honors) and Education. I have a Masters in Life Sciences with vedartham-24specialization of teaching Life sciences in High School. I got my degrees from Regional Institutions of Education, NCERT (an apex national body for research in school education, the NCERT performs the important functions of conducting and supporting research and offering training in educational research methodology), India. I taught Biology in reputed high schools in India. Upon arriving in the USA, I joined the University of Louisville, KY with the intention of doing my PhD in molecular Biology. I was a Teaching Assistant for a whilevedartgam-13Like many others, I was very apprehensive to learn technology at first .But I got over my fears and enjoyed immensely taking certifications in Creating Web Pages & Java Programming online. I have since taken two levels of certification for teaching online courses. I love the use of technology in teaching. My husband who is a veteran in computers helps me a lot in web-surfing and in solving problems. He is also a professional photographer (all these beautiful pictures in this website are his creations).

My hobbies include traveling to different places, hiking, cooking and handicrafts. I like to volunteer in schools, colleges and surrounding communities . I love animals and exotic plants. I love being surrounded by nature. I get to visit many places because my husband is a software consultant. My favorite places are the sand dunes, the forests, the oceans, the lava beds, the waterfalls, the snow, the changing colors in Fall… in California, Oregon, Vermont , Louisville (KY) to name a few. I have a very supportive and loving family. I have two great kids who are in school /college and two adorable dogs.

My daughter recently graduated from University of Texas, Austin. She is on her way to experience the world as part of Peace Corps. She will be working with HIV patients and children affected by the disease. She has  majored in child development and sexual health. So, this is a perfect opportunity for her to work with. I am so proud of her and wish her all the best.

My son is about to graduate from High school and seeking his undergraduate degree from UTSA. He wants to pursue a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He is a musician and I enjoy seeing concerts and orchestra in the Museum district with him. He is presently learning Sitar and is very well versed in playing guitar, trumpet, euphonium….

I am blessed to have such great kids.
