CreekFest

Lone Star College-University Park, Sam Houston State University-Northwest Houston Campus, and University of Houston-Northwest Campus will attend the second annual CreekFest, a one-day festival of the arts and adventure race on Saturday, Oct.13 from 10am to 4pm.

The festival promotes the parks, museum, library, visual and preforming arts, and other community resources in the Greater Cypress Creek Area. There will be numeous events such as hands-on art projects, artist demonstrations, concerts, and literacy activities throughout the day. Outdoor activites, such as the Adventure Race and Family Dash will promote healthy living and physical fitness. LSC-University Park will also compete in the Outdoor Chalk Art competition and work on large-scale outdoor chalk artworks. So, if you're artistic and want to represent LSC-University Park, then come out for a day of fun and support your campus! A portion of the proceeds raised at CreekFest will help fund scholarships for our students.

LSC-University Center at University Park Open House

Lone Star College-University Center at University Park will host an open house for students interested in transferring to one of the center’s four-year university partners: Sam Houston State University–Northwest Houston Campus, Texas Southern University-Northwest Campus, University of Houston-Northwest Campus, and University of Houston Downtown-Northwest.

The open house will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at
LSC-University Center at University Park, Bldg. 12, second floor.

Faculty members, student advisors, and financial aid and admissions officers from each partner university will be available to answer questions from students interested in transferring to one of the four-year institutions. There will also be food, games, and giveaways.

LSC-University Center at University Park offers junior, senior and graduate level classes through its university partnerships. Students who enroll with one of the partner universities on-site are able to complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or teaching certificate) without traveling to the university campuses.

Methodist Blood Drive

The Methodist Hospital System, in conjunction with Lone Star College-University Park will host a blood drive at the college on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 10 am to 2 pm in Building 12, 2nd floor.

Not only will the drive provide life-saving blood to patients, it will also help fund scholarships for deserving students at LSC-University Park.

All eligible students and faculty are encouraged to participate. It only takes 30-45 minutes to donate. Donors are required to bring a personal photo ID (i.e. state issued driver's license or ID, passport, military ID, work ID, school ID, green card of work visa) be at least 17 years of age; weigh a minimum of 110 pounds; be hydrated prior to donation; eat a sensible meal two to four hours prior to donating; and be in good overall health. Eligible donors will receive a T-Shirt.

Monthly Radio Show Highlights Innovation and
LSC-University Park

LSC-University Park sponsors a national monthly talk radio forum, Visionary Talk Radio for Higher Education. The talk radio show, co-hosted by Mike Mathews, chief strategist for innovation and entrepreneurship, interviews national business and education leaders who share innovative ideas to benefit the higher education community.
