Language Lab Coordinators

Amatur Rahman Afeefa

photo of Amatur AfeefaHello! My name is Amatur Afeefa, and I am a motivated and passionate graduate student at the University of Houston Main Campus pursuing a Master's of Science in Human Nutrition with a specialization in Dietetics. My dedication and devotion to the field of nutrition are what encourage me. I really think that making conscious lifestyle decisions has tremendous influence and plays an essential role in ensuring good health and happiness in the long run. My academic endeavors have not only improved my abilities but also inspired my interest in nutrition and overall health. I'm very excited to start a job in which I can assist patients in achieving their wellness goals by working collaboratively with them in clinics and hospitals.

I consider overall wellness to be a deliberate decision that affects all parts of our daily routine, rather than simply a priority. Apart from my academic pursuits, I've had the privilege of working as a bookseller and department manager in the campus bookstore here at Lonestar College CyFair since 2017. Through this experience, I have improved my managerial and leadership abilities, as well as my ability to connect with diverse individuals. These interactions have been a wellspring of inspiration, shaping me into the person I am today.

I enjoy a variety of hobbies in addition to my work and school pursuits. I love to spend time with my family and friends, and I am a huge movie enthusiast. My passion for cooking and baking, where I like experimenting with new recipes, is how I exhibit my creative side. Traveling to new destinations, trying new cuisines, and maintaining an active lifestyle through consistent physical activity are among the pursuits that provide me with immense happiness.

It is a privilege for me to work as a lab coordinator, where I can put my skills to good use and make a significant contribution to my workplace. I strive to have a positive impact on any tasks I embark on by approaching every day with an optimistic attitude and an appreciation of commitment.

Reginara Anholete

photo of Reginara AnholeteHello, my name is Reginara and I’m glad to work as a Part-time Lab Coordinator. My passion for Lone Star College Cy-Fair started when I moved from my home country to live in USA in 2013, at that time I was looking for some hospitality to feel belonging and a place to continuing my education.

I started as an ESOL student, then I became a volunteer at the Library and having made such a great connection with people here had motivated me to apply and be an employee. Being part of Academic Success Center and collaborating with the Mission of empowering students to succeed has kept me connected with my passion of helping people and more than that has motivated me to keep learning.

I strongly believe that when education meetings excellent resources and high-quality services we can build strong community. Besides working and studying, I like working out, reading about health and wellness, listening to good Brazilian music and enjoying time with nature, specifically on the beach.

Jessyca Aviles

photo of Jessyca AvilesHello, I’m Jessyca and I am one of the Language Lab Coordinators here at CyFair. I recently graduated with an AA in Music from the CyFair campus this past summer. In the near future I would love to further my education in Hebrew Biblical Studies and continue to apply my musical skills for worship services. I currently volunteer at New Life Church singing with the worship team and providing interpretation services.

For my leisure time I try to keep busy and active in the outdoors. I enjoy swimming, hiking, walking in the city, driving to, and discovering new places and whenever possible relaxing at beautiful beaches.

Working here at the campus as a Language Lab Coordinator is an exciting opportunity for me because I think learning a new language, meeting new people from other countries, and getting to know their culture is so fascinating! I invite any student or staff who is interested in foreign languages to come check us out, learn about the labs and see what all we have to offer.

Anay Cortes

photo of Anay CortesMy name is Anay Cortes, and I am one of the PT Language Lab Coordinators. I started to be part of Lonestar Cy-Fair a couple of years ago when I began working for the library department as a PT Clerk Library/Shelving. I truly enjoyed working for the library but then the opportunity to become a Lab Coordinator opened for me, and here I am. I can say it has been a great experience to be part of LSC, I’ve met so many great people and I’ve had the opportunity to learn so much. I look forward to creating and offering a great learning environment for students and professors who come here to the Labs. Lastly, I just want to mention I am a nature, music, and art lover.

Monet Douglas

photo of Monet Douglas Hello, my name is Monet Douglas. I am from Houston, TX and a student here at Lone Star. My goal is to earn an associates in Web Design.

In my free time I enjoy crocheting dolls, playing piano, sewing costumes, reading manga, and watching anime. I enjoy staying busy/active and my future dream is to be able to travel to other countries (such as Japan, Iceland, and Italy) in the near future. As well as travel, I hope to learn more about other languages and cultures while continuing my studies in Japanese.

Working as a lab coordinator has been an enjoyable experience and I will continue to do my best to help out whenever or wherever I can.

ESOL Tutor

Alina O. Melendez

photo of Alina Melendez

My name is Alina O. Melendez. While I was born in Habana, Cuba, my parents immigrated to the U.S., and I was raised in Miami, Florida.

I have had a successful career in Corporate America, enjoying various roles within Human Resources, in areas such as talent acquisition (recruitment) & development, Diversity & Inclusion, and I managed global international expatriate programs, to name a few. I also did a job development assignment in Marketing & Sales, to understand that part of our business.

My professional goal in life is about having a “positive impact on others”, and that is why I feel so privileged to be the part time, ESOL Tutor at LSC Cy-Fair. I am bilingual in Spanish, and understand the challenges of learning a new language, as an adult, in a different culture.

I love cooking whole-food-plant-based foods, RV travelling throughout Texas & U.S., while enjoying the company of my spouse & 5 (in total) rescued dogs & cats.

Make LSC part of your story.
