Applied Arts & Sciences, BBAS (SHSU)
This degree enables associate of applied science graduates of post-secondary vocational-technical programs to obtain baccalaureate degrees. 36 - 48 hours of vocational-technical courses may be accepted. A minimum of 36 hours must be completed at the advanced (300 and 400) level and 128 total hours must be completed to earn this degree.

Banking and Financial Institutions,BBA (SHSU)
This program prepares the student for advancement to senior level positions in banks and financial institutions. Training includes bank management, credit analysis, commercial lending, and selling financial products. Entry level positions such as credit analyst, junior loan officer, bank examiner, and branch manager are available for the student. The business programs of Sam Houston State University are accredited by the AACSB.

Business, BAS (OLLU)
The weekend Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) in Business provides an opportunity for students to apply prior life and job experience toward a degree. Many students returning to school with broad experience find that the BAS allows them to match their specific experiences with appropriate coursework. Students in the BAS in Business program can transfer in 18-30 semester hours earned through prior education in a technological specialization. Criminal Justice, BA or BS (SHSU)
The criminal justice curriculum provides students with the opportunity and assistance to acquire knowledge in the roles of policing, courts, laws, and corrections as they contribute to social order.

Elementary Certification (Interdisciplinary Academic Studies) BS (SHSU)
The education program consists of 59-65 semester hours of academic foundations courses, 42-49 hours in an interdisciplinary academic major, and 21 hours of professional education courses, including student teaching. The academic foundation block of classes may be completed at the community college while obtaining an associate degree.

The Department of English strives to provide students with opportunities to grow as learners and as individuals. Students in the English program may, through study of literature, gain an awareness and knowledge of themselves and their contemporary world. Other English students combine their cultural interests with specific vocational objectives, such as professional writing, teaching, or pre-professional training for law, business, or medicine.

Nursing, RN to BSN (UH-V)
The primary educational objective of the RN to BSN-completion program is to increase the career and educational opportunities available to registered nurses in the university's service region. Graduates of the program will have a broader understanding of the nursing profession and will bring that understanding to the practice of nursing in their places of employment. Graduates will be prepared to assume some leadership and management roles.

Bilingual Education/Dual Language, M.Ed. (UST)
Bilingual Education involves teaching children concepts in Spanish while receiving English language oral development. Content areas are taught in Spanish until the children have acquired English language skills.In the Dual Language Bilingual Program, native English and native Spanish speakers are in the same classroom and develop academic language skills in a second language as well as their native language.

Counselor Education, M.Ed. (UST)
The Counselor Education Program (CEP) prepares graduate students to become professional school counselors (36 hours), clinical mental health counselors (48 hours) or both. In keeping with its Freirian foundation and model of education, the CEP empowers students with rigorous academic study, affective understanding and salient practice. It encourages students to bring their lived experiences to the table in seminar courses and requires all to be teachers and students with equal, albeit different, responsibilities for the success of the CEP.

This degree provides preparation for teaching and school leadership positions by focusing on development, coordination and evaluation of bilingual education programs. Psychology, MS (OLLU)
A Master of Science (MS) in Psychology with a specialization in Family and Individual Psychotherapy allows students to complete a portion of their practica requirements at Houston area clinics and agencies. This weekend based program prepares practitioners to treat individuals, marital and family relationships, as well as larger systems from a systemic perspective. This program meets the academic requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC) through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and licensure as a Psychological Associate (LPA) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Special Programs (Doctoral, Post-Baccalaurate)

Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Ed.D. (SHSU)
The Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership provides the highest professional degree available in the field to students who aspire to leadership positions at either the school or college / university level. Although the degree requirements include a prescribed curriculum of required and elective courses, the doctoral degree is not awarded only on the basis of coursework completion. In addition, each doctoral student is expected to conduct a major research project resulting in the presentation and defense of a dissertation. The program design requires a concentration in educational leadership, with at least 18 hours in the leadership core, 21 hours in the research component, 24 hours in the specialization area (instructional leadership and/or content field) and 12 hours in the cognitive electives.

Doctor of Philosophy, PH.D. in Counselor Education (SHSU)
Accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education at SHSU provides the highest professional degree available in the field to students who aspire to counseling related education positions at colleges/universities or leadership positions in public schools. The program design requires a concentration in counselor education with nineteen hours in the Counseling Core, fifteen hours in the Research component, nine hours in Research Tools, twenty hours in the Specialization Area (Counselor Education or School Counseling) and six hours in a Cognate area. A minimum of 69 semester hours are required for the doctoral program, beyond a 48 hours (minimum) master's degree in counseling with coursework essentially similar to that of community Counseling or School Counseling coursework requirements specified by CACREP.

Leadership Studies, PhD. (OLLU)
The Department of Leadership Studies offers the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in leadership studies. The 75 semester credit hour doctoral program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to prepare individuals who will emerge as leaders capable of excelling in business, healthcare, education and public affairs agencies.  The PhD in leadership studies program at Our Lady of the Lake University is designed as a four year sequence, which begins with intensive course work and culminates with the dissertation. Courses in the program reflect emerging new knowledge and skills and are taught as interdisciplinary, thematic units. This is a cohort program, which includes approximately 15-25 participants taking courses together. The cohort model provides individuals with opportunities to work collaboratively to meet the demands of the program.  All classes are offered on the weekend through Our Lady of the Lake University at University Center at Montgomery.
