Admission Appeals Procedure

Dental Hygiene Program

An admissions appeal will be considered if there is evidence that one or more of the following conditions exist:

  • Error in calculation of points for admission
  • Deviation from admission procedures as defined by the program website
  • Disparate treatment of a student that is not addressed by EEO process

If one or more of these conditions exist, the student should submit an appeal in writing to the Director of Dental Hygiene at 20000 Kingwood Drive, HSB 118-A, Kingwood, Texas 77339.  The written appeal should address specifically what conditions justify an appeal.  This letter must be submitted within five (5) business days of the date on the notification of non-admission.

The Director of the Dental Hygiene Program will convene an Admissions Appeals Committee which will review the written appeal and respond in writing to the student within five (5) business days of receipt of the student’s appeal.  The Admissions Appeals Committee will be chaired by the Director of the Dental Hygiene Program and will consist of the Director of the Nursing program, Director of the Respiratory Care program, the Director of the Occupational Therapy Assisting program and the Division Counselor for Math, Science and Healthcare and the Division Dean.

If the student wishes to appeal the decision of the Admissions Appeals Committee, the student must submit a written appeal to the Vice-President of Instruction within 5 business days, stating specifically the basis for the appeal. The Vice-President of Instruction will make the final decision.
