| Goal: | Develop an early and continuous intervention system that will support academic and developmental course completion, transition and success in gatekeeper courses, and fall-to-fall retention. |
| Current Status: |
Beginning fall 2009, all MATH 0308 (Introduction to Algebra) and all ENGL 1301 (Composition and Rhetoric I) classes will participate in Early Intervention. The selection of these two courses was based on the above goal of improving both developmental course completion as well as success in gatekeeper courses. When examining the requirements of most certificate and degree programs, most students will pass through at least one of these courses. Academic year 2008 – 2009: The intervention coordinators worked with students to create an action plan for success. Students were referred to appropriate resources such as tutoring and counseling. Spring 2009 - efforts were expanded to focus on all MATH 0308 sections, as well as 20% of the sections in the following courses: MATH 0306 (pre-algebra), MATH 0310 (intermediate algebra), ENGL 0305 (developmental reading II), ENGL 0307 (developmental writing II). |
