Selection Process

Selection Process and the Creative Arts Contest

Once students submit their poetry, short fiction pieces, and art for possible publication, the advisors remove all names of the authors and artists.  The anonymous writing submissions and art submissions are then duplicated and distributed amongst the student staff and volunteer faculty judges for review, discussion, and final selection. They also choose the prize winners in each category. Afterward, both final selections and prize winners are published in the magazine.

All Inkling writing submissions selected for publication by the student staff are considered as entries in the LSC-Tomball Creative Arts Contest.  These entries are submitted to a panel of judges. Submissions selected for publication are automatically entered into the Lone Star College-Tomball Inkling Creative Arts Contest. Winners will be honored as follows: one student's artwork will be selected as the cover piece; first, second, and third places will be awarded to winners in prose, poetry, and art. All winners receive special recognition in the magazine and are recognized at a ceremony in the spring.
