Professional Pilot ProgramAssociate of Applied Science and Certificate

 

The Associate of Applied Science - Professional Pilot degree provides the flight training and academic education to prepare students for a career as a professional pilot. Authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Part 141 institution with self examining authority. Students will complete Private, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor-Airplane (CFI-A) and Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFI-I) along with the instrument and multi-engine ratings. The FAA has authorized the Professional Pilot program to certify graduates for restricted airline transport pilot (R-ATP) certificate. Upon degree completion graduates are eligible to pursue employment as a certified flight instructor, aerial photography pilot, pipeline patrol pilot, corporate pilot and more. The academic requirements of this program, which have been closely mapped to the needs and demands of the aviation industry, provide the foundation for students to continue their education to a bachelor's degree.

Application Deadlines

Entering the Professional Pilot Program requires that all documents & signed material is on file by the following timelines to be enrolled for the correlating semester.

Fees and Costs

Fees for flight courses are exempt from the Hazelwood Act. (Texas Administrative Code, Title 40, Part 15, Chapter 461, Subchapter A, Rule 461.30) Visit LSC Tuition & Fees for more information.

Program Director

John Blum comes to Lone Star College with a valuable array of professional experience including Chief Flight Instructor in FAA Part 141 programs, FAA Designated Pilot Examiner in FAA Part 135 programs, and Line Check Airman experience in FAA Part 121 programs. He has more than 34,000 hours of flight experience flying general aviation as well as large transport aircraft and retired from United Airlines as a Boeing 777 captain. He has also served for many years as an executive in county government dealing with administrative and budgetary issues. Mr. Blum is responsible for program development and operation, ensuring all academic and flight training standards are met from the admissions process to graduation. Mr. Blum also serves as an Assistant Professor within the Professional Pilot Program.

The Flying Mavericks organization provides Professional Pilot students with valuable insight into the aviation industry. Students gain insight to various sides of aviation through short-seminars, guest speakers, tours, social events and more. Guest speakers provide an inside look into the various career paths for professional pilots while tours provide a behind the scenes look into various areas of the aviation industry.

US Aviation Academy - Lone Star College Hangar is located at 10013 Military Drive Conroe, TX 77303

Lone Star College entered a partnership with U.S. Aviation Group to provide flight training for the Professional Pilot Program. U.S. Aviation Group is an FAA-approved Part 141 flight school with extensive experience providing collegiate flight training programs. Ground and Simulator classes are scheduled at LSC-Conroe Center and are taught by LSC faculty. Flight classes are scheduled at the Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport and are taught by U.S. Aviation Group certified flight instructors.
