Starting August 2023, new retirees are now provided with an LSC Retiree email account upon their official retirement date to use for one (1) year as they make the transition from active employee to esteemed retiree.
If you are retiring or have recently retired, congratulations! The OTS team wishes you the best on your next adventure. You should have received instructions before you retired as to how to claim your LSC Retiree account. However, if you no longer have those instructions, please review the information below to claim your account and set up Multi-Factor Authentication in order to access it securely.
- What happens to my LSC email when I retire?

You will no longer have access to your LSC employee email account following retirement. Your employee email account will be disabled when you leave Lone Star College. Instead, an LSC Retiree email account will be set up for you.
- When will I have access to my Retiree account?

Your new account will be accessible on your effective retirement date.
- Will I still be able to access my LSC employee account after I retire?

Employees who retired from LSC starting August 1, 2023 or beyond* will no longer have access to their employee account as of their official retirement date.
If you are preparing to retire soon, please take a few moments before your retirement date to save your contacts and any emails that you would like to keep.
*Employees who retired from LSC prior to August 1, 2023 do not yet have an LSC Retiree account so they still have access to their employee email account. This will be changing (expected Fall 2023) and we will send communications and instructions to those retirees before that change occurs.
- What will my new Retiree email address be?

The first half of your new email address will be the same as your LSC employee address. The second half will include "retiree." preceding the "lonestar.edu".
For example: sheldon.l.cooper@retiree.lonestar.edu
NOTE: If your LSC employee email address did not include your middle initial, neither will your retiree email address.
- How do I access my Retiree email?

REMEMBER YOUR CURRENT PASSWORD! - The password you had the last day before you retired.
After your effective retirement date, your new email can be accessed by claiming the account and setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at LoneStar.edu/MFASetup-Retirees. Please note, this is a brand new account so you must set up MFA for it even if you already set up MFA on your employee account.
Your login will be provided through an automatic notification to your LSC employee email before you retire, and the password will be the same password you last used with your employee account. First, you will be prompted to set up two methods of authentication and then you should reset your password to a new one.

- How long will I be able to use my Retiree account?

One (1) year. If you need to continue using your LSC Retiree email account after one year following your effective retirement date, you will need to request to extend access. Automatic reminders will start being sent 30 days prior to your account expiring.
- Will I also retain access to the other Microsoft Office applications besides Outlook?

No. Retirees will only have access to email for one (1) year.
- How often will I need to change my Retiree account password??

You will be prompted to reset your password every 90 days. Pleae note, this setting is determined by Microsoft and may be changed without prior notice.
- How do I change my password on my LSC Retiree email account?

Retirees do not use the same password reset tool that active employees use, so please DO NOT use the Reset Password link on the myLoneStar login page. Instead, follow these steps:
- Go to https://portal.office.com and click the Can't access your account? link.
- Select Work or school account.
- Type your retiree email address and the code displayed.
- Select your first contact method desired (receive a text, phone call, or use an authenticator app).
- Complete the identity verification.
- Enter your new password and again to confirm.
- Once the new password has been set, a message will appear showing that the your password has been successfully reset.

- What happens if I am re-hired by Lone Star College following my retirement?

If you are re-hired by Lone Star College following retirement, you will be allocated an employee account in addition to your LSC Retiree account. You will have two accounts to maintain until you leave service again.
- If you are re-hired within one year following retirement, your previous employee account will be re-activated and you will retain your previous email address as well as all emails and settings that were in your account when you retired.
- If you are re-hired more than one year following retirement, you will be allocated a new employee account with a new email address. This account will be brand new, so it will not have any of your previous emails or settings and you will not be able to access any of those old emails, contacts, or settings.
