Lone Star College-CyFair Bosque Gallery will host a special bonus May mini-mester art exhibition, “Journeys in Water – A Vertical Art Show”, showcasing the talent of Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District elementary to high school students May 16 – May 29.

“This exhibition will be the first of its kind for the Bosque Gallery providing an exceptional opportunity to observe artistic inspiration, collaboration, and innovation,” said Matthew Backer, Bosque Gallery Lead Faculty.

CFISD Art Teacher Casey Blades is the organizer and curator of this unique display of water-themed artworks created in diverse media including digital, photography, sculpture, drawing, and painting.

She began the collaborative collection with pieces from student artists at Tipps and Brosnahan Elementary Schools followed with imaginative works from students at Watkins and Thornton Middle Schools responding to the elementary school artwork. Finally, she added inspired creations from the art students at Cy Lakes High School responding to the middle school artwork.

“The original elementary artwork will be displayed with the middle and high school responses to that artwork, three variations on a theme,” said Backer. “Be sure to join us at the opening reception of this one-of-a-kind celebration of ‘Journeys in Water’.”

Meet some of CFISD’s talented artists from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  at the May 16 opening reception held in LSC-CyFair’s Center for the Arts building.

Plan to also return for the summer exhibition from June 6 to July 3 featuring local sculpture artist Brendan Flores, who is known for creating unique free-standing and wall-hanging 3D works.

Gallery hours and information are available at LoneStar.edu/BosqueGallery.
